First UMC Reading Groups Although the page on the calendar has turned from February to March, the cold and snow of winter have not relented. However the FUMC readers have hardly noticed. Their noses have been buried in the book entitled “THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THUNDERBOLT KID” by Bill Bryson.
This is a memoir about Bryson’s childhood years when every sneaker had at least 7 dozen lace holes. But Bryson’s father was the best sports writer that ever lived. And growing up in Des Moines, Iowa did not prevent him from accompanying his father into dugouts and clubhouses where he met the likes of Stan Musial and Willie Mays. It is an interesting book about an idyllic childhood.
FUMC will meet at 7:30 on March 18 at the home of Connie Bergstrom to discuss this selection. Everyone is welcome to read along with the club and to join the discussion. So come to the FUMC Readers meeting and join with your friends as they discuss this latest selection.
